DIY Chippy Paint Layers Using General Finishes Milk Paint

Recently we just wrapped up a big DIY project where we created an island using an old thrifted dresser. From the very start I knew I wanted an authentic, chippy, aged finish. If you talk to all the “decor styling experts” they may tell you that the farmhouse trends are on thier way out. and to that I say…so what! The trend may be settling a bit in exchange for shades of black and green but this girls country loving heart will always have a place for old and chippy.  I didn’t want to fake this look. It as important…

This dream of having a kitchen island started with a dresser we found at a local resale shop. If you’re looking to start a upcyled project that will look amazing in your home, this would be an amazing place to start. It’t the perfect blend of rustic and beautiful. DIY Rusted Hardware

I have been working on our island conversion for a few weeks now and I am finally gettting to the final touches on everything I wanted the piece to look authentically old, that was my main goal. I bought new apothecary hardware from Amazon and absolutely LOVED the design. What I didn’t love was how new they looked. They didn’t match the age of the rest of the piece and I kinda thought I was doomed. That was until I ran across this product shared by The Vintage Porch. It’s a Rust finish metal effects kit by Modern Masters. It…

DIY Vent Hood Cover from Scrap Wood

This idea blossomed when we decided to update our dark and dreary kitchen to an authentic farmhouse kitchen, which you can rad about HERE. I had always wanted a vent hood cover and since this is our forever home, I decided it was time to take the plunge.…except for one small problem. We had an overhead microwave mounted above the stove. There was no vent pipe redirecting the air, only the microwave and a small set of vents on the top.  I refused to let my dream of having a beautiful vent hood cover fade. My husband and I chewed over…

So far I have been making plenty of ornaments and picking up some here and there at the dollar stores around town. However, the trouble I am running into is that most of all the jumbo styled ornaments…
