    DIY Concrete Pedestal

Ok so it’s no secret that I love a thrifty planter makeover. I can usually be found searching my local thrift store shelves at least once a week. I love the thrill of finding something with good bones and breathing a fresh new life and purpose into it. In this case, a DIY concrete pedestal. This particular thrifty makeover was a little extra fun simply because I ended up using it for something completely different than plants. If I am being super honest I can barely keep plants alive so having an abundance of planters doesn’t add any value to…

    Thrifted Bookend Makeover with Quikrete

A couple weeks ago I grabbed these hefty bookends at a yard sale for $3. Really the whole day of hunting was a bust but finding these beauties turned the day around! That really is the joy in thrifting and hunting for those unique items. I hope this thrifted bookend makeover will inspire you on your next trip to the thrift store.  When you’re on the hunt I suggest looking for items with “good bones” I know I probably wear that phrase out but it really is the most useful tip to remember. Paint, stain and in this case, concrete…

Makeover Monday : French Farmhouse DIY Urn

I feel like I have been on a roll at the thrift store lately. This thrift store urn caught my attention right away with its French Farmhouse DIY vibes. I paid a whopping 25 cents for this little piece with BIG potential among some other great thrifty decor finds from that day! The next time you’re out thrifting or maybe you find yourself pumping the breaks for a yard sale, keep this little urn in mind. This is one of those pieces with “good bones.” The shape, the texture…all the things are right but it just needs a liiiiitle something. That’s…

    DIY Rustic Island Counter Top

Sooo, as most of you may already know we have been steadily working on converting an old dresser into a kitchen island. My number one goal out of this entire conversion process has been working toward capturing an old, just pulled out of a barn feel. I don’t know if that makes any sense to you but that is literally the phrase I have been using to describe my vision. Rusty hardware (that I also DIY’d HERE) , chippy paint…you name it. This has presented itself to be quite the challenge but I was eager to get this part of…

    Rustic Winter Mantle Reveal 2019

I have been dreaming of decorating this mantle and fireplace and tonight I am so excitied to finally be sharing it with you! The new home we just moved into has this amazing concrete stone gas fireplace with a large wooden mantle. Eventually I plan to whitewash the stone and brighten up the entire room but this year I decorated it as-is and I couldn’t be happier!  The best part of this whole set up is the nice blend of thrifted finds and new items that come together to create a rustic, yet elegant and cozy look.  This look all began…
