Wood block DIY’s are my absolute fave. There is something so satisfying about being able to create something unique and quality for your home without having to hunt down crazy complicated supplies. This rusty wire mason jar was the perfect way to add a touch of rustic fall decor to my home without having to do just that.
I already had most of these supplies laying around my house, and I wiling to bet you probably do too.
Here is whatcha need for this perfect little piece of rustic fall decor…
Supplies for Rusty Wire Mason Jar Wood Block
- Wood chunk (mine is about 15″ tall)
- Nails
- Hammer
- Rusty wire
- Stain
- Floral Pick
- Mason Jar template (I googled an image and placed dots along the outline)
I began by staining my wood with one of my favorite colors of Minwax, called Special Walnut and taped my template to the board.
The next step of the rusty wire mason jar process unfolded by wrapping wire around 1 nail of your choosing and randomly stretching it from one nail to another in a criss cross type pattern.
The more rusty wire used, the more defined your jar will become! I even went around the outside perimeter of the nails to create a defined outline as well. The most enjoyable part of this rusty wire mason jar project is watching it take shape.
I should also point out, that the options are limitless with this type of project! The shape can be varied easily based on your template!
I am in love with the mix of textures here. From the wood and the wire to the florals! Sunflowers are the perfect fall transitional foliage for fall!
